Monthly maintenance

Monthly WordPress support and maintenance: what you get, month by month.

Short answer: monthly website maintenance is a fixed monthly service that keeps a site updated, backed up, monitored and supported, reported on every month. Ours is billed monthly, cancellable with thirty days' notice, and there is no annual contract to sign.

The monthly cycle

What happens across
a maintenance month.

Monthly website maintenance isn't one visit a month. Some work runs every day, some as it's needed, and the month closes with a written report.

Why monthly

Why maintenance is billed monthly,
not quarterly or yearly.

Some providers sell quarterly or annual maintenance, usually with a discount for paying upfront. We only sell monthly, for three reasons.

Websites don't wait a quarterSecurity patches arrive every week. A quarterly visit leaves known vulnerabilities open for months at a time.
You should be free to leaveIf the service isn't earning its fee, thirty days' notice ends it. An annual contract keeps you paying for a service you've stopped trusting.
Needs changeA site that launches a store or starts taking bookings needs a different plan next month, not next renewal.

Monthly vs one-off

Monthly website management

When monthly maintenance
includes management.

Monthly website management goes beyond upkeep into running the site: publishing content, adding pages, managing users. Here's how that fits the monthly model.

Already paying monthly?

Signs your monthly maintenance
isn't actually happening.

Monthly website maintenance is easy to pay for and hard to see. These are the signs it has quietly stopped.

No report, or the same reportIf you don't get a monthly report, or it's identical every month, nobody is looking closely.
Pending updates in the dashboardLog in and look. A long list of pending updates means the updates aren't being done.
You found the outage firstIf customers tell you the site is down before your provider does, monitoring isn't working.
Nobody can name the last backupAsk when the last backup was taken and when a restore was last tested. Hesitation is an answer.
Requests disappearSmall changes that take weeks, or never happen, usually mean support hours aren't being used for you.
You don't know who does the workIf you can't name the person maintaining your site, nobody specific is accountable for it.

Questions, answered

Monthly maintenance:
common questions.

What is monthly website maintenance?

A fixed monthly service that keeps a site updated, backed up, monitored and supported, with a written report every month. It replaces one-off fixes with continuous care.

What does monthly WordPress support include?

Staging-tested core, plugin and theme updates, daily off-site backups, uptime and SSL monitoring, and requests answered within one business day. Care + Secure adds security hardening, malware scanning, a monthly allowance of support hours and emergency response.

Do you offer quarterly or annual maintenance plans?

No. Every plan is billed monthly with thirty days' notice. Security patches arrive weekly, so quarterly visits leave gaps, and we'd rather earn your business each month than lock you into a year.

Is there a discount for paying annually?

No. There's no annual prepayment or annual contract, so there's no annual discount either. The published monthly rate is the rate.

What's in the monthly report?

What was updated and what was held back, backup and uptime status, security scan results, support requests handled, and anything worth planning for next month, in plain English.

Can I cancel monthly maintenance at any time?

Yes, with thirty days' notice and no exit fee. Every credential is handed back within 48 hours.

Is monthly maintenance worth it for a small site?

For a site that brings in enquiries or sales, usually yes: one hack cleanup or failed update can cost more than a year of a basic plan. For a site nobody relies on, a one-off tune-up may be enough.

How much does monthly website maintenance cost?

Every plan is published per site per month on the pricing page, next to typical market ranges.

What happens to unused support hours at the end of the month?

Ask any provider this before signing. Our standard terms set it out in writing; ask for them through the form.

Is monthly WordPress support the same as monthly maintenance?

Maintenance is the scheduled upkeep; support is help when you ask for it. Care covers maintenance; Care + Secure adds monthly support hours and emergency response.

Can I switch plans month to month?

Yes. Move up or down from the next month with thirty days' notice.
